Sociology of Education

Sociology of Education aims to comprehend the essence and the background of major educational problems that Korean society is facing and to propose effective alternatives based on in-depth understandings of humans and social phenomena. The focus is on cultivating the ability to approach issues, such as education and social changes, educational inequality, education fever, and multicultural education from a sociological perspective and on analyzing them scientifically.

Adult Continuing Education

Adult Continuing Education examines various educational factors required in the era of lifelong learning and concretely investigates social organizations to produce practical knowledge for realizing a society of lifelong learning. In Adult Continuing Education program, Human Resource Development (HRD) Planning in corporations and local and global regions, lifelong/vocation/career education planning, development and evaluation of programs, and policies will be investigated through cross-national comparison study. Through studies and research that foster creative abilities necessary for solving current problems and creating future opportunities, students will develop strong leadership to be competent education field experts, researchers, professors, and policy experts.

Educational Administration & Higher Education

Educational Administration and Higher Education teaches the basic theories and practical knowledge about the organization and the management of each stage of the educational institutions and the educational administrative institutions as well as the national- and international-level educational policies regarding these areas. The major consists of specific programs, which are educational organization and school management, educational policy and coordination, and policy for higher education and human resource development. Each of these programs trains top-level intellectuals and professionals who conduct academic research and seek improvements in the field. The curriculum and the teaching methods of the courses aim for internationalization and the program aims to ultimately become the number one program in Asia by enhancing international competitiveness. Under these objectives and vision, students will develop logical and critical thinking skills through systematic acquisition of knowledge in their field of specialization and foster international research abilities by participating in various studies.
